Abbie & Adam - The Invites
I'm so excited to finally be able to show off these beautiful invitations for the future Mr & Mrs Holliman. I call it 'Fairytale in New York'.
When Abbie came to me at the beginning of the year, she didn't have a clear vision but a lot of ideas that she wanted to combine. This included her colour scheme which is emerald green, hints of pale pink and white, cherry blossom flowers, a vintage / fairytale theme with hints of New York and a bit of bling. She liked the idea of a pocket style invitation that hid all the details inside and could be fastened with a bow. It was quite a brief for a designer but I loved the challenge and got to work on the initial concept.
The invitation sits in an emerald green pocket-fold that ties close with a white ribbon. Once open the main invite will be stuck central so it's the first thing you see. I incorporated as many of Abbie's ideas as possible without it becoming too overwhelming.
The main cursive font and decorative graphics give it the fairytale touch. I incorporated their initials like an emblem - I thought it gave it the royal Disney princess treatment without being corny. The main body of text is also a subtle emerald green to link in with their colour scheme but the style of font doesn't detract away from the design.
The cherry blossoms were used to help frame the invite and add a hint of colour to contrast against the emerald green. I included a small cityscape of New York in the background which will tie in well with the rest of their wedding theme and bring in some consistency to the whole wedding stationery suite. Abbie wanted a bit of bling so if you look closely I've added a few diamantes on the cherry blossoms to give it a subtle sparkle as you open the invite.
The pocket on the right houses various extra double-sided information cards that include directions, a map, accommodation, a gift list poem, a song request and RSVP. We also included a small envelope so that guests can send they're RSVPs back to the bride's parents.
Abbie and Adam are getting married March 2017 and have asked me to design the rest of their stationery including a table plan, place names, table names, menus, order of services, amongst other wonderful wedding items. We've already got ideas in mind and I can't wait to bring it all together.
